Supermom: Relying on God’s Stength

I’ll be the first to tell you, I am so guilty of trying to do it all. Often, I stretch myself very thin just because I want to do everything just right. I am always multitasking. On any given day, I could be washing clothes, lesson planning, preparing dinner and cleaning the house; all while helping my kiddos with their homework. Sometimes, I feel as if I should be wearing a supermom cape. I think all moms have felt this way, at some point in time. While caring for our families, we must remember to make time to properly care for ourselves. Today, I would like to share two tips I have found helpful in taking off my supermom cape and relaxing a bit.
1. Spending time with God. Set aside a few minutes of personal time to spend time with Father God in prayer and daily devotion. You’ll be surprised how much smoother your day goes, when you do this in the morning! I’ve found it can be pretty challenging at times due to the demands and constant distractions of daily life but the reward of being in God’s presence is so worth it. I am constantly trying to improve in this area.
2. Ask for help. I use to be so bad about this. We only have a few trusted family members and friends we allow to sit with our babies and I did not like bothering them. I had to get over my fear of asking for help. I quickly found friends and family did not consider it a bother at all. They actually welcome the opportunity to spend time with our children. Our children also need an occasional break from us as much as we need one from them.
Motherhood is such a awarding yet difficult task. I think being a true supermom requires relying less on our strength and walking in God’s grace. I’m learning His strength is made perfectly known in my weakness.
